Description:

The Sisters Trails Alliance maintains cross country ski and snowshoe trails from a trailhead across the road from the Upper Three Sno-park on the 16 Road to Three Creek Lake south of Sisters.

The core trails include Warren’s Loop, Nancy’s Loop, and Three Creek Lake Trail (all ski trails) and the Peak View Snowshoe Trail, with the latter two leading to the Jeff View Shelter.

An initial 0.6 mile (1 km) climb of 300 feet (100 m) on the Three Creek Lake Trail leads to a plateau of rolling terrain with impressive views of the Three Sisters all the way to Mt. Hood on clear days.  The open landscape that allows for excellent views also creates the potential for windblown snow.  STA also maintains the rustic Jeff View Shelter, including provision of firewood for the shelter’s woodstove.  Please conserve firewood, and bring a lighter and paper or other fire starter.

This link provides daily snow depth and maximum temperature from a weather monitoring station in the area.  Note that the station is at 5,700 feet elevation, which is about 500 feet (150 m) above the trailhead.  Conditions at the trailhead may be warmer with less snow depth.
