Crescent Mountain Trail Work Party

  • 20 Nov 2016
  • 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Lava Lake Sno Park (Near Santiam junction of Hwy 20 and Hwy126)

This is a great project to get crews from all over the area working together—SATA, COTA, Team Dirt, DOD—as the location is about the same distance from all of us, and just around the corner from the MRT. The Old Cascades Crest Trail is a 28 mile backcountry loop that is open to bikes, but needs some love to get it in shape. The instigator is Brandon Haraughty, Trails Coordinator for the Willamette National Forest. He had a big hand in the recent O’Leary rebuild, so clearly knows his stuff! For this work day we will do drainage work in a tough area at the south end of Crescent Mtn Trail, and will include some good instruction on building a “step down drain” (an alternative to bridging) and other techniques. It would be great to have a crew from SATA get in on the action and learn some new tricks, socialize with other MTBers and explore a whole new area! Meet at the Lava Lake Sno park, near Santiam junction (where Hwy 126 and Hwy 20 Lasplit).
