Bikes and Bridles Safety Day
A free educational experience sponsored by
Oregon Equestrian Trails and Sisters Trails Alliance

Peterson Ridge Trailhead at the Sisters Rodeo Grounds
Saturday, May 21st
9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Objectives for the day that will make horse and bicycle encounters on our trails safer:

  1. Let equestrians work their horses in close proximity to bicycles in a safe and controlled environment to reduce the horses’ fear of bicycles.
  2. Let cyclists learn about horse behavior and how to reduce chances of accidents when meeting horses on the trails.

  • Guidelines for approaching and passing horses safely.
  • Stations with progressively more difficult encounters for the horses - from a cyclist standing with a stationary bicycle to the cyclist doing whatever the equestrian needs.
  • Safe areas for cyclists to watch horses at the stations and observe horse behavior.
  • Separate station where cyclists can ‘get up close and personal’ with a calm horse.
  • Fun getting to know other trail users.
  • Free lunch from 1:00 to 3:00 for all participants and volunteers.

We need to know how many will be there for lunch.
Maximum of 20 horses and 20 bicyclists.
For more info, to pre-register with a horse or a bicycle, or to volunteer to help us out during the day, please email:
