    Shortly after requesting volunteers, we were notified this event was cancelled. Race organizers were unable to secure a location in Sisters to finish the race but they'll be back next year!

    STA is supporting two aid stations for the inaugural Cascades 100 - a 100 mile running race from Bend to Sisters, hosted by Alpine Running, utilizing portions of the Peterson Ridge trails. We are looking for volunteers to man the aid stations for Alpine Running over the weekend. 

    STA will be supporting aid stations at these locations & times:

    Whychus Creek Aid Station: 7 pm Saturday, August 29 until 1:30 pm Sunday, August 30.
    Cow Camp Aid Station: 8 pm Saturday, August 29 until 11:30 am Sunday, August 30.

    Janessa Taylor and her team have put together some covid-related protocols and guidelines for runners and volunteers. They include:

    • Runners are required to use hand sanitizer before entering any aid station
    • No self-serving at all - runners cannot touch the food
    • Volunteers will hand out the food and will be provided with masks and gloves that should be worn when serving runners
    • Volunteers will not be taking bladders or bottles from runners to refill - runners will do that themselves.
    • Volunteers and runners are asked to monitor any symptoms within 2 weeks before the race and monitor temperature 1 week before race day.
    • Medics will be conducting a temperature check of racers at check-in.
    • Number of participants is currently capped at 50, although Alpine has a wait list of 30 people so there could be more.
    • Runners will be well spread out on the course. The aid stations manned by STA volunteers are the later ones and volunteers can expect a slow trickle of runners coming through.

    If you're interested in volunteering, email Ann at info@sisterstrails.org. Please let us know what day, time, & location you'd be available to support and we'll put together a schedule. You are welcome to volunteer with someone from your household, otherwise a minimum 6' of physical distance is required at all times.
